ROZEPAARS is a designer based in Amsterdam. Her focus on sustainability translates through the creation of locally sourced, handcrafted biomaterials combined with digital 3D sample making.
Working with wool – that she buys from selected hobby farmers who treat their animals fairly – makes that the entire process is in her own hands. She washes the wool, cards it, dyes it with natural ingredients and spins or felts it to make garments out of it. Next to that she creates her own biomaterials of algae leather.
By doing it all herself, she can make sure there is no use of toxic chemicals or pesticides, no toxic colouring waste, no human and animal exploitation. Her knowledge of 3D sampling allows her to communicate and develop designs without having to waste physical materials.
Currently, she is studying textiles where she is deepening her knowledge of wool working, natural dyeing and the creation of biomaterials for fashion use.
Concept-wise she sparks conversation, asking critical questions about topics like eating meat and dairy, gender and at the moment she is researching the womb.
